What this bill does

Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau

Under current law, the maximum penalty for littering is a forfeiture (civil

monetary penalty) of $500. Littering includes depositing solid waste on public or

private property, other than in a trash receptacle or a solid waste facility, and failing

to remove a vehicle from the waters of the state. This bill increases the maximum

forfeiture for littering to $1,000.
