What this bill does

Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau

Under current law, a school board may award a high school diploma to a person

who attended high school in that school district or attended high school in the state

and resides in the school district if the person is 65 years or older, left high school to

join the U.S. armed forces during a war, and served on active duty under honorable

conditions.

This bill authorizes a school board to award a high school diploma to a person

who is 55 years or older if that person has a service-connected disability and, with

the exception of age, meets the above conditions.
