What this bill does

Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau

Under current law, the Department of Transportation (DOT) administers an

employer notification program. The program permits an employer of a commercial

motor vehicle driver to register the driver's name with DOT and to be informed by

DOT whenever a traffic-related conviction, suspension, revocation, cancellation,

disqualification, or out-of-service order is recorded on the person's driving record.

This bill extends the employer notification program to allow an employer to

register an employee who does not operate a commercial motor vehicle if the

employee's employment responsibilities include the operation of any motor vehicle.
