Current law imposes a speed limit of 55 miles per hour on the operation of snowmobiles during the hours of darkness. Current law defines "hours of darkness" as the period of time between one-half hour after sunset and one-half hour before sunrise and all other times when there is not enough natural light to clearly see a person or a vehicle that is 500 feet away. Current law sunsets this provision on July 1, 2010. This bill repeals the sunset.
