What this bill does
Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) issues various
licenses, permits, and other approvals (approvals) that authorize the hunting,
fishing, and trapping of wild animals. Current law establishes a fee for the issuance
of an approval depending on the type of activity for which the approval is issued.
Under certain circumstances, such as for some approvals issued to persons who are
under the age of 18, DNR charges a reduced fee. DNR charges a further reduced fee
of $4.25 for a hunting approval issued to a person who is 10 or 11 years old. Under
current law, a person who is 10 or 11 years old may hunt only under the authority
of the hunting mentorship program administered by DNR. Generally, DNR also
charges a reduced fee to issue a duplicate hunting approval.
This bill establishes a reduced fee of $4.25 for a duplicate hunting license issued
to a person who is 10 or 11 years old.
