What this bill does

Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau

Under current law, the Council on Highway Safety (council), created by the

Department of Transportation, consists of 15 members. The members of the council

include three representatives to the assembly and two senators, each of whom must

serve on a standing committee dealing with transportation matters.

This bill eliminates the requirement that the representatives to the assembly

and the senators who are appointed to the council must serve on a standing

committee dealing with transportation matters.
