What this bill does
Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill authorizes any municipality or county to adopt an ordinance under
which traffic control attendants may be appointed for the protection of persons
crossing highways in the municipality or county. Any appointment of a traffic control
attendant must specify all dates and times, and locations, for which the appointment
is valid. No municipality or county may appoint a person as a traffic control
attendant unless the person has received prior training in traffic control and traffic
safety. A person appointed as a traffic control attendant must wear an insignia or
uniform that designates the person as a traffic control attendant and must be
equipped with signals or signs to direct traffic.
