What this bill does
Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, the Department of Justice (DOJ) provides grants to cities
to fund programs aimed at crime reduction in neighborhoods that are affected by
high levels of crime. The bill increases, for fiscal year 2013-14, the appropriation for
those grants by $250,000 and directs DOJ to provide a one-time grant in fiscal year
2013-14 of $250,000 to the city of Milwaukee to be used by the city in its firearms
buy-back program.
