What this bill does

Under current law, the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) may admit to a

veterans home a person who is a veteran and who meets certain other eligibility

requirements. One of those requirements is that the person has care needs that the

veterans home is able to provide.

The statutory provision as to this requirement that was in effect prior to the

enactment of

2013 Wisconsin Act 20

(Act 20), the biennial budget act, specifically

listed chronic alcoholism, drug addiction, psychosis, and active tuberculosis as such

care needs. Act 20 removed this list from the statutory provision and this bill restores

the list.
