What this bill does
Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill requires the Department of Corrections to develop evidence-based
criteria for confining a prison inmate in a solitary cell. This bill also requests the
Legislative Audit Bureau to perform a financial and performance evaluation audit
of the use of solitary confinement in prisons. If the bureau performs the audit, it must
file its report by July 1, 2017.
