This bill permits an out-of-state person providing emergency medical services

(EMS) to act as an ambulance service provider, emergency medical technician, or

first responder without holding a license, training permit, or certificate in this state

when responding to a request for mutual aid if the person holds a valid license,

training permit, or certificate in the state from which that person is responding. As

used in this bill, "emergency medical technician" refers to an emergency medical

technician-basic, emergency medical technician-intermediate, or emergency

medical technician-paramedic. Generally, under current law, a person may not act

as or advertise for the provision of services as an ambulance service provider,

emergency medical technician, or first responder unless that person holds the

required Wisconsin license, training permit, or certificate. This bill creates a limited

exemption from that requirement for those holding appropriate credentials in

another state when they respond from that state to a request for mutual aid from

within this state.
