What this bill does

Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau

Under this bill, legislative officers other than legislators and the Legislative

Reference Bureau (LRB) no longer receive folded highway maps upon publication

from the Department of Transportation (DOT). Also, a legislator may reduce the

number of free highway service maps and folded highway maps that DOT is required

to distribute to the legislator's office.

This bill also reduces the number of Blue Books that the Department of

Administration is required to distribute. This bill eliminates the requirement that

Blue Books be distributed to entities such as constitutional officers, legislative

service agencies, state agencies, libraries, and educational institutions. The bill

maintains the general requirement that 350 Blue Books be distributed to each

representative to the Assembly and 600 Blue Books be distributed to each senator

but allows each representative and senator to reduce that number for his or her

office. This bill also requires the LRB to ask each legislative office if the office wants

to reduce the number distributed to his or her office.
