What this bill does

Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau

This bill makes a change to a rule promulgated by the Department of Natural

Resources relating to the display of blue lights on boats. The current rule prohibits

the display of a blue light or lamp on a vessel other than a patrol boat, which is a boat

authorized by this state or by a local governmental unit for the purpose of law

enforcement, search and rescue, fire fighting, emergency response, or water safety

operations. Under this bill, only a flashing blue light is prohibited from display on

vessels that are not patrol boats.
