What this bill does

This bill prohibits a state or local public official or candidate to offer

employment to another individual in order to induce the individual not to seek

election to the same office held by the official or sought by the candidate. The bill also

prohibits an individual from accepting any such offer. Current law, generally,

prohibits a state or local public official or candidate for a state or local public office

from receiving anything of value in exchange for taking or refraining from taking any

official action on any proposed or pending matter.
