What this bill does
Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill makes various changes to the Council on Worker's Compensation in
the Department of Workforce Development. Under current law, the council consists
of a designated employee of DWD who serves as chairperson, five representatives of
employers, five representatives of employees, and, as nonvoting members, three
representatives of worker's compensation insurers authorized to do business in this
state. Under the bill, the proportion of representatives of employees who are
representatives of organized labor on the council must be the same as the proportion
of employees in this state who are union members.
