What this bill does

Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau

Under current law, the Department of Transportation must publish highway

service maps showing the state trunk highway system. DOT determines the price at

which these highway service maps are sold. DOT must also publish folded highway

maps for free distribution to the public. Upon their publication, DOT must distribute

for free 50 highway service maps and 500 folded highway maps to each officer and

member of the legislature. These officers and members of the legislature may request

additional highway service maps at the regularly established price and additional

folded highway maps for free. DOT must also distribute to the Legislative Reference

Bureau 300 folded highway maps. This bill eliminates the requirement that DOT

distribute highway service maps and folded highway maps to officers and members

of the legislature and the LRB.
