What this bill does

Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau

This bill defines “dental care” for the purpose of a legal custodian providing

ordinary medical and dental care for a child.

Under current law, a legal custodian of a child is an individual, other than a

parent or guardian or an agency, to whom a court has transferred certain legal duties

and responsibilities with respect to a child, including the responsibility to provide

ordinary medical and dental care for the child. Under current law, the rights and

duties of a legal custodian remain subject to the rights, duties, and responsibilities

of the guardian of the child and any residual parental rights and responsibilities.
