What this bill does
Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, in addition to having a wild turkey hunting license and a
valid wild turkey hunting stamp in order to hunt wild turkey in a wild turkey
hunting zone or during a wild turkey hunting season time period (for example, one
week during a longer wild turkey hunting season) established by the Department of
Natural Resources, a person must also have a wild turkey hunting authorization
that is valid for that zone and that season time period. This bill allows two holders
of wild turkey hunting authorizations for different season time periods in the spring
to exchange those hunting authorizations by each applying to DNR to transfer his
or her hunting authorization to the other. The bill requires the application to be
submitted to DNR no later than the first day of the earlier of the season time periods,
limits a person to one such transfer per year, and prohibits a person from receiving
consideration for such a transfer.
