What this bill does
Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, no animal-drawn vehicle may be operated on a highway
during hours of darkness unless the vehicle is equipped with at least one white light
visible from a distance of 500 feet ahead and two red lights visible from 500 feet to
the rear.
This bill requires that, in addition to the white headlight and the red rear lights,
such vehicles must be equipped with rear flashing yellow or amber strobe lights. The
bill also requires that the lights on an animal-drawn vehicle be illuminated during
periods of inclement weather.
