Under this bill, the Department of Natural Resources is required to establish a program to award grants to county deer management advisory councils, of up to $5,400 per council per fiscal year, for the disposal of deer carcasses. A grant under this program may be used to pay for the costs of contracting to place in that county no more than six large metal containers in which hunters may dispose of deer carcasses, including the costs of renting, lining, and transporting the containers and disposing of the carcasses. Under the bill, a county deer management advisory council is eligible for a grant if DNR has confirmed a test revealing chronic wasting disease in a wild elk or deer in that county or in an adjacent county within ten miles of their shared border.
