What this bill does

Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau

This bill increases the appropriations for Wisconsin grants for University of

Wisconsin System students and technical college students.

Under current law, the Wisconsin grant program, administered by the Higher

Educational Aids Board, provides grants to postsecondary resident students

enrolled at least half time and registered as freshmen, sophomores, juniors, or

seniors in specified postsecondary institutions, including UW schools and technical

colleges.

This bill increases HEAB's biennial appropriation for Wisconsin grants for UW

students by $27,000,000 in each year of the 2019-21 fiscal biennium and for

technical college students by $18,000,000 in each year of the 2019-21 fiscal
