What this bill does
Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill requires the Department of Natural Resources to designate the third
full weekend in July as a special event weekend during which DNR must waive, for
veterans, the requirement that persons be issued fishing licenses and pay the
applicable fees in order to fish in the waters of this state. Under current law, DNR
must designate two such special event weekends per year that apply to all persons,
one of which must be the third full weekend in January. For all special event
weekends, current law, and the bill, require DNR to designate, by rule, to which
inland or outlying waters the waivers apply.
