This bill requires segregated fees charged to part-time students at University of Wisconsin System schools to be calculated on a per credit basis.
Under current law, the Board of Regents of the UW System may establish fees incidental to enrollment in educational programs or use of system facilities. In addition to academic fees or nonresident tuition, the Board of Regents may charge students segregated fees. The segregated fees applicable at each UW school must be posted on the school's Internet site along with detailed information on the organizations and activities for which certain segregated fees are expended, and each student's bill for a semester or session must list the amount assessed against the student for segregated fees separately from the amount assessed for academic fees or nonresident tuition. Segregated fees may be used only for the purpose for which they are charged.
