Under current law, the Department of Public Instruction must administer a competitive grant program under which DPI awards grants to school boards and independent charter schools for the purpose of collaborating with community mental health agencies to provide mental health services to pupils. Under the bill, the purpose of these grants is to collaborate with mental health providers, as opposed to community mental health agencies, to provide mental health services to pupils.
