What this bill does

Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau

Under current law, a county or municipality that operates a water safety patrol

unit is eligible for an aid payment that is calculated on the basis of the costs that are

directly attributable to the operation and maintenance of the water safety patrol

unit. Aid payments are currently limited to 75 percent of these costs. This bill

increases the aid payment limit to 80 percent of costs and increases funding for these

aid payments by $545,000 in fiscal years 2021-22 and 2022-23.
