What this bill does
Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill eliminates the sunset date on the dual enrollment credential grant
program administered by the Higher Educational Aids Board. Under the program,
HEAB awards grants to school districts, independent charter schools, and private
schools participating in a parental choice program to support dual enrollment
programs taught in high schools. “Dual enrollment programs” are programs or
courses of study designed to provide high school students with the opportunity to
gain credits in both high school and a University of Wisconsin System school,
technical college, or a private, nonprofit college. Grants are awarded to assist high
school teachers in covering tuition expenses for courses taken to meet the minimum
qualifications necessary to teach dual enrollment courses.
