What this bill does
Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill appropriates $2,000,000 to the Department of Public Instruction for
truancy reduction grants in the 2024-25 school year. The bill specifies that if
LRB-5489 is not enacted into law during the 2023 legislative session, the
appropriation created in this bill is void. LRB-5489 requires DPI to establish and
implement a grant program under which DPI must awards grants to eligible school
districts for the purpose of reducing truancy.
