Under current law, the Department of Health Services is required to determine

the amount of contribution that a county is required to maintain based on historical

county expenditures for the Children's Long-Term Support program and may

require counties to maintain a specified level of contribution for the program. This

bill sunsets the current funding methodology after December 31, 2024, and requires

DHS, in cooperation with counties, to review county contributions and develop a

revised funding methodology for the Children's Long-Term Support program to take

effect on January 1, 2025. In developing a revised funding methodology, the bill

prohibits DHS from requiring counties to maintain any level of contribution. The

Children's Long-Term Support program is a program operating under a waiver of

federal Medicaid law to provide home and community-based services to children

with disabilities. The Children's Long-Term Support program is referred to as the

disabled children's long-term support program in the bill.
