What this bill does
Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, the Technical College System Board may establish and
supervise training programs in fire prevention and protection, which must be made
available to members of volunteer and paid fire departments. Also under current
law, technical college district boards must make available to members of volunteer
and paid fire departments in the district a fire fighting training program approved
by the Technical College System Board. This bill requires the Technical College
System Board and the technical college district boards to include in provided
programs different course modules to account for different fire fighter focuses, and
to differentiate any provided fire fighting training program based on whether the
training is for volunteer fire fighting officers or paid, full-time fire fighting officers.
