This bill prohibits a person from conducting, maintaining, managing, or operating a tourist rooming house for more than 90 days in a year.
Under current law, no person may conduct, maintain, or operate a tourist rooming house if the person has not been issued an annual license by the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection or a local health department acting for the department. A “tourist rooming house” is defined as any lodging place or tourist cabin or cottage where sleeping accommodations are offered for pay to tourists or transients. The definition does not include hotels or bed and breakfast establishments.

Also under current law, a political subdivision may limit the total number of days within any consecutive 365-day period that a residential dwelling may be rented to no fewer than 180 days. This bill prohibits political subdivisions from limiting the total number days that a residential dwelling may be rented to no more than 90 days.
