What this bill does

Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau

This bill directs the expenditure of $300,000 from moneys appropriated for the

general program operations of the University of Wisconsin System in payment of a

claim against the University of Wisconsin-Parkside by Dr. George Vukotich to

compensate him for alleged breaches of his employment contract with the University

of Wisconsin-Parkside. The claimant entered into an employment contract with the

University of Wisconsin-Parkside in January 2021. The claimant asserted that he

was unlawfully terminated under the terms of the employment contract. On April

6, 2023, the Claims Board denied the claim concluding that the Board of Regents did

not breach its contract with Dr. Vukotich (see 2023

Senate Journal

, p. 212).
