What this bill does
Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill provides that vehicle admission receipts issued by the Department of
Natural Resources are valid for approximately one year, rather than only during the
calendar year in which they were issued.
Under current law, no person may operate a vehicle in any state park or in
certain other recreational areas on state land unless the vehicle displays a vehicle
admission receipt. Current law requires DNR to issue an annual vehicle admission
receipt that is valid for the calendar year for which it is issued. Under the bill,
beginning in 2025, DNR must design the annual vehicle admission receipt to display
each month of the year in a manner that allows the department to indicate the month
in which the receipt is issued. The bill provides that a vehicle admission receipt is
valid until the final day of the 12th month following the month in which it is issued.
