What this bill does

Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau

Under current law, including the open housing law, it is unlawful for any person

to engage in certain forms of discrimination in housing based upon certain

characteristics of an individual such as sex, race, color, sexual orientation, disability,

religion, national origin, marital status, and family status. This bill adds citizenship

and immigration status to the list of characteristics on which it is unlawful to

discriminate in housing.
