This bill is introduced as required by s. 227.26 (2) (j), stats., in support of the action of the Joint Committee for Review of Administrative Rules in suspending emergency rule 2409 of the Wisconsin Elections Commission on July 22, 2024. The suspended emergency rule 1) described requirements and procedures for filing nomination papers, 2) identified grounds for bringing challenges to nomination papers, and 3) described the procedures by which the filing officer would hear and decide these complaints for such challenges and the ability of an individual to seek review of the filing officer’s decision on the complaint.
