What this bill does

Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau

Under current law, a person may apply to the Department of Transportation for registration as a transporter of modular or other portable housing. DOT may register an eligible applicant upon payment of the applicable fee and issue the applicant a registration plate valid during the calendar year in which it is issued. The person to whom the plate is issued may use the plate on any trailer or temporary undercarriage they own, but only for transporting a modular housing unit or other portable building. This bill expands this registration option to include the transport of manufactured housing units.
