What this bill does

Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau

Under current law, in order to participate in the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program, the Racine Parental Choice Program, or the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program, a private school must submit an intent to participate and meet various eligibility criteria. This bill adds to the eligibility criteria that the private school is not a virtual school. Current law defines a “virtual school” as a school in which all or a portion of the instruction is provided through means of the Internet, and the pupils enrolled in and instructional staff employed by the school are geographically remote from each other.
