What this bill does

Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau

This bill requires the Department of Corrections to provide every inmate being held in a state correctional institution with three hours per week of outdoor time, unless the inmate is being held in the Milwaukee secure detention facility, in which case the three-hour per week requirement does not apply until the inmate’s 91st day of holding at that institution.

The bill also requires county sheriffs to provide every inmate being held in a county jail or county house of correction with three hours per week of outdoor time beginning on the inmate’s 31st day of holding at that county jail or county house of correction.
