Under current law, the Department of Justice administers programs for crime victim services, including awarding grants to entities that provide services to victims of child abuse, sexual assault, and domestic abuse and to crime witnesses. This bill increases the amount appropriated for these programs by $34,202,700 in the 2025-27 fiscal biennium.
Under current law, DOJ has 17 positions that serve crime victims that are funded with federal money. This bill changes the funding source for these positions from federal money to general purpose revenue. Of the appropriation increase in this bill, $4,025,800 is allocated for the biennium to provide funding for the 17 positions.
