What this bill does

This bill requires the Department of Public Instruction to implement a pilot program during the 2026-27 and 2027-28 school years to give at least 50,000 high school pupils in this state access to an electronic multicomponent behavioral health prevention tool. The tool must be based upon a population health model; offer English- and Spanish-language functionality; provide access to online behavioral health education resources, peer-to-peer support services, and online private sessions with mental health professionals; and meet certain other requirements. The tool must be provided by an entity that has experience providing the tool to public schools serving rural and urban areas in other states. Under the bill, DPI may contract with a cooperative educational service agency to administer the pilot program.
