Current law provides penalties for various forms of interference with law enforcement, including resisting or obstructing an officer or escaping from custody. Under this bill, it is a Class H felony to publish, post, or disclose to a public internet site or public forum the personally identifying information of a law enforcement officer, corrections officer, juvenile detention officer, or a federal agent or federal law enforcement officer operating in this state if the action is taken to intimidate, abuse, threaten, harass, or frighten the officer or to obstruct or delay an investigation, an enforcement action, or a duty of the officer.

Because this bill creates a new crime or revises a penalty for an existing crime, the Joint Review Committee on Criminal Penalties may be requested to prepare a report.
