What this bill does
Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau
Current law limits the percentage of pupils in each school district who may attend a private school under the statewide parental choice program. The pupil participation limit started in the 2015-16 school year at 1 percent of a school district’s membership and increased gradually to 10 percent of a school district’s membership in the 2025-26 school year. Under current law, the pupil participation limit sunsets after the 2025-26 school year. This bill repeals the sunset and continues the pupil participation limit at 10 percent of a school district’s membership.
