What this bill does

Plain-language analysis by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau

Under current law, the Department of Natural Resources administers a program to award grants for up to 50 percent of the cost of acquiring supplies, equipment, and training related to suppressing forest fires. DNR promulgates rules establishing criteria and procedures for awarding grants under the program and establishing eligible costs.

This bill provides that the purchase of a product derived from soybeans to be used as a fire suppression material is an eligible cost for grants under the program.
