Current law generally requires a person who keeps a certain amount of livestock to register the premises at which the livestock is kept with the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. In so registering, the person must provide certain information to DATCP about the premises, including the type of livestock kept at the premises and the kind of livestock operation at the premises, using standards and guidelines from a national animal identification plan developed by the federal department of agriculture. This bill removes the requirement that the person use standards and guidelines from a national animal identification plan developed by the federal department of agriculture.
